Growing flowers can transform any indoor or outdoor space. Cultivating flowers adds life and charm to your environment. Yet, many gardeners struggle with keeping their flowers healthy and vibrant. Weathered Eye Farm is excited to welcome Hattie Allen of Hattie's Garden presenting "Growing Beautiful Cut Flowers". Hattie, one of the original Historic Lewes Farmers Market vendors, is considered one of the best growers in the state. Retired from the farmers' market, Hattie remains a wealth of information on vegetables, herbs, and all things floral.
Hattie will discuss what flowers grow well in Sussex County, how to select the right varieties and where to purchase seeds or plants, and the best potting mix and fertilizer. She'll talk about the best time to plant and best practices for maintaining a cut flower garden, including deadheading and staking and/or trellising for the tallest varieties.
